Precepts for Perfection

We take much delight in presenting this book to our readers. It is an addition to our list of similar books dealing with the teachings of the direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. Such an addition would seem to be unwarranted for that very reason. But the domain of "spiritual perfection" is typified by an interesting phenomenon. All the spiritual classics in the world which have been repeatedly published, either as abridged versions or as compilations focusing on a particular aspect of spiritual life, have always been seen to be avidly sought after by the aspirants. Far from seeming repetitive, such publications have charmed spiritual aspirants and proved to be infallible sources of inspiration. Whether it is the *Gita*, the *Zend Avesta*, the *Tripitakas*, the *Bible*, or the *Koran*, their "Precepts for Perfection," though separated from us by millenniums, have, even today, an irresistible attraction. The same applies to the teachings of the Great Master Sri Ramakrishna and his disciples, which are the freshest spiritual blooms of the modern period. Therefore, in spite of some books having been published on this subject, we, with the hope that the readers would evince the same degree of interest as before, present this book for their benefit and inspiration.
