Sachitra Ramayana

The great epic retold in Hindi for children, adorned with beautiful color illustrations. The Ramayana is India's great epic, and according to Swami Vivekananda, Sri Rama and Sita are the ideals of the Indian nation. This book, written for children, is based on Valmiki's Ramayana. Its outline has been prepared based on the English book 'Pictorial Ramayana' published by the Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, and most of the book is a translation of this English book. We are grateful to Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, for granting permission for the translation and for the use of the beautiful illustrations from the English book. We are indebted to Swami Vimohanananda for the translation. Sri Keshav Prasad Kayan has assisted in the translation work, for which we are grateful. Smt. Madhu Dar has made a special contribution to its editing and proofreading. We also express our gratitude to them. It has been an ancient tradition in India for elders in the family to impart moral values to children through stories related to texts like the Ramayana and Mahabharata. This tradition is disappearing in today's social environment. It is hoped that books like this will help preserve this vanishing tradition in our society.
