Sri Ma Sarada Devi

An exhaustive life of Holy Mother incorporating as many facts and incidents of Mother's life as could be gleaned from all reliable sources, oral and documentary. Shri Maa Sarada Devi's centenary was celebrated with the publication of her brief and detailed biographies in various Indian languages. Before this, her biography and sayings have been presented in various forms. Even so, the absence of an original and complete biography of Shri Maa has been felt for a long time. With the intention of removing this deficiency, a comprehensive biography in Bengali, authored by Swami Gambhirananda and edited by Swami Madhavananda, was published at the beginning of Shri Maa's centenary. For the benefit of Hindi-speaking people, a Hindi translation of that work has been published. We are indebted to Jairam Mishra, M.A., M.Ed., Sahityaratna, a teacher from Allahabad, and Bhubaneshwar Jha, Sahityabhushan, Sahityaratna, a teacher from the Paschim Bang Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Kolkata, for this translation. Swami Madhavananda also edited this translated work. Some parts of the original text have been omitted due to fear of increasing the volume. Although the centenary celebration concluded in December 1954, we were motivated to undertake its publication, recognizing its special significance. We will consider our efforts worthwhile if the Hindi readers can gain even a little insight into the sacred life depicted in this book. Finally, we are pleased to state that the honorable Rajmata of Mysore, Shriyukta Pratap Kunwar, has borne the entire cost of this book, demonstrating her appreciation for merit.
